Ingredients:
- Lime – 1, cut in half.
- Green Chili – 1, cut.
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon.
- Urad dal – 1/2 teaspoon.
- Chana dal – 1/2 teaspoon.
- Asafoetida (हींग) – 1/2 teaspoon.
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon.
- Peanuts – 3 teaspoons.
- Rice – 2 cups.
- Turmeric – a pinch.
- Coriander leaves (cilantro) – a couple of sprigs, cut.
Ingredients.
Method:
- Pressure cook the rice in 4 cups of water.
- Squeeze the lime halves and collect the juice.
- In 3 teaspoons vegetable oil, fry the mustard seeds and cumin till they pop.
- To the same oil, add asafoetida, urad dal, chana dal, peanuts and cut green chili and fry till the dals turn light brown.
- Add this mixture to the rice with a pinch of turmeric and mix well, till the rice turns yellow.
- Finally, add the lime juice to the rice and mix well.
- Garnish with cut coriander leaves.
